(ACCOMPANIED WALKING TOURS IN ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, WALES AND IRELAND. SMALL GROUPS HIKE THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE, STAY IN BED AND BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATIONS, AND ENJOY PUB FOOD.)
I am happy to introduce “WALK YOUR WAY” to you and I invite you to to discover England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland in the best possible way - on a walking tour - and off the beaten path. I began hosting small groups of walkers in 1989 and the demand for these trips keeps growing. The first were in England, but now, we walk throughout the UK and Ireland.

2011 UPDATE:
Since 1989 I have produced a brochure listing the walking tours offered the following year. I determined which tours would be scheduled and when. It has been a pleasure and so much fun to travel with interesting, adventurous, curious people. The tours have taken us through much of England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and most of the offshore islands. When strangers have asked me what I do, I always add to the job description “it really shouldn’t be legal to have so much fun while working”. This is an announcement – not a discussion – my partial retirement after 21 years. No sadness – much gratitude for the years of companionable walking in such beautiful countryside and pints of cider in village pubs, elbow to elbow with friends I never would have made were it not for the walking tours. So thank you. If it’s a bad news / good news story – then that was the bad news. The good news is that I am not hanging up the boots, pack and poles. I plan to continue walking in the UK and Ireland; I want to do some walking in Majorca, Madeira and Portugal as well as travel a little in the US with Chris. It’s not ending, but evolving. This year, for a change I am allowing you – my dear walking friends – to decide where and with whom you would like to walk in April or May of next year. Just browse through this website for a description of all of the tours that have run, and take your pick. The only thing I ask is that you have a minimum number of 6 people for the tour of your choice. I send a monthly email newsletter and if you would like your name to be added to the recipient list, please send me a request. ...contact walkyourway@centurytel.net |

A Welsh steam train - September 2010
Many have been with me on more than one tour, and they tell me that the attraction is the personal touch. I research, plan, conduct and accompany every tour for its entire duration (I know this is unusual in the travel industry but it continues to be my policy). England is my home, and hosts at our B/B's have become personal friends.
What better way is there to learn about an area than to explore it on foot? Here, you can read about all of the walking tours that I have developed and conducted over the years. Each year I introduced one new tour and repeated a few.
To give you a little background, I was born and educated in England and became a teacher. I have lived in Egypt, Pakistan, India, and Australia. Now, I divide my time between Ireland and the United States. Having lived overseas for much of my life I feel that I do understand your needs, and anticipate your questions while travelling here. Fifty nine groups have accompanied me to Ireland, England and Scotland in the past eighteen years, and perhaps this year you'll join me too.
I do offer select, customised tours specifically for special interest groups. If you have a small group wanting a specific tour I will be glad to organise a special tour adapted to your group and required (available) dates. This customised, accompanied tour would focus on your special interest - or chosen location. This may appeal to you, if you and a few friends wish to plan around your own specific interests eg: archaeology, painting, birding, photography or genealogical research. You might ask for a tour in a location not listed in this brochure - with a list of sites of particular interest to your group.
